We proudly present to you our (current) trainees:
Trainee
Hello, My name is Tim and I’m a master student in Chemistry Technology at the State University Groningen. At CCS I will create a model of a CO2 stripper which uses a packed bed absorber. The idea is to create a more energy efficiënt method to upgrade biogas to biomethane. I hope to gain a lot of experience both on a theoretical level as well as a practical level once the installation will be tested and with that, the model will be verified.
Trainee
I am Hadi, a Master’s student in System Engineering in Sustainable Energy at HAN University of Applied Sciences. Here at CCS, I will work on developing a feasibility tool for the evaluation of utilizing solar thermal energy in agricultural activities of the North-West Europe region. This project is a part of the European Interreg NWE program of ICaRE4Farms, and CCS as a member of this program is responsible for developing a feasibility tool. My main task in this project is the development of the backend calculation modules for this tool. I will establish three models for estimating heat demands in main NWE farming applications, calculating the size and the performance of the STE systems, and determining the economic feasibility. I also will try to create a tool for farmers and energy consultants based on these models.
Trainee
I’m Jordie, a Master’s student in Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University. At CCS I will be developing a mobile version of their existing nitrogen stripper. I will look at how we can reduce the existing system without losing efficiency and how we can make the system mobile. We hope to contribute to the solution to the national nitrogen problem, and I hope of course to gain a lot of experience as an engineer. The tasks I am mainly involved in are tuning the preconditions of the system, making new designs and calculating the yields of these designs.
Stagiair
Hello, My name is Lisanne, I am a bachelor student in Business Administration at the Avans university of applied sciences in ‘s Hertogenbosch. During my traineeship I will conduct a marketing research study for CCS. For this study I will focus on what CCS’ aim is, how this connects with the market, wether this is feasible and how best to implement it. The marketing research focusses on biogas installations and the implementation of the ‘nitrogen problem’.
Trainee
My name is Carla, I am a Master student at the French engineering school EPF. For my 4th year traineeship, I will be working on a project which aims to use duckweed to recycle livestock effluents while also providing a local protein-rich forage for farm animals. To make this recycling process possible, CCS is working on a method to reach optimal production of duckweed and maximal protein content. My contribution to this project lies in the elaboration of a growth model in order to ajust the conditions and parameters of duckweed production.
Trainee
My name is Andreas, I’m a Master’s student in Sustainable Energy Technology at the University of Twente. During my internship, I will be working on the European program ICare4Farms. CCS, which is one of the members of this project, is trying to build tools and find ways to substitute fuels by solar thermal energy systems to provide hot water for the farms. My task is to use test cases and implement those tools to model them and examine their feasibility.
Trainee
My name is Ronald, I’m a master student at the University of Twente in mechanical engineering with a focus on thermal and fluid engineering. During my traineeship I will work on the Bio-UP system. CCS wants to try to use solid based amines instead of liquid amines to capture CO2 from biogas. My task is to take measurements and map the mass and energy flows and balances of the system.
Trainee
My name is Elena, a Master’s student of Sustainable Energy Technology at the University of Twente. During my internship, I will be working on the Duckweed pond project. For this, I will be implementing, testing and optimizing the control system created for the testing pond. The results obtained will be used in the future for the installation of bigger projects.
Trainee
My name is Krishna Sangam, Master student in Chemical and Energy Engineering at Otto von Guericke University, Magdeburg in Germany. I am currently working on a manure digestion project to produce PHA(polyhydroxyalkanoate) rich biomass , which can be used as a substrate to produce biogas and for other applications in the Biomaterial/Bioplastic industry. I will be testing the PHA biomass for its biogas production potential on a lab-scale and the analysis of this data will be used for the conceptual design of a pilot reactor.
Trainee
My name is Schrutir Jain, Master’s student in Sustainable Energy Technology at the University of Twente. As a trainee, I will analyse the economic feasibility of the Bio-up in India. For this, I will be conducting market research and based on its analysis, develop a business case and calculate the energy recoup time. Additionally, my project also focuses on exploring potential partners for the Bio-Up system in India.
Trainee
My name is Wessel, bachelor student in Chemical Technology the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. As Thesis trainee I am responsible for the optimisation of the new innovative manure refinement installation which has been developed by CCS. For this I will take readings from the installation. Based on my findings I will then suggest improvements that may result in an improved installation for future clients.
Trainee
My name is Eduardo Reina, bachelor student in electrical and electronic engineering. My thesis project consists of the design and implementation of an autonomous control system for a duckweed pond installation. Duckweed, grown in ponds, absorbs nutrients from the manure added to the water. When the camera detects the ponds are full, water will be pumped into one side of the ponds while on the other side, a conveyor belt will collect the duckweed, which will be later used as (animal) fodder.
Trainee
My name is Marysia, master student of Sustainable Energy Technology at the University of Twente. During my I work on the addition of the (Recognized Measures List) sector furniture and wood for the SME Energy CheckUp and the ROI time for the measures this sector is compelled to comply with.
