Retrospect: Workshop Energy Collectives

On Tuesday, December 4th 2018, CCS Energie-advies received 30 guests for a workshop on energy collectives. Representatives from the government, education and the business community joined CCS Energie-advies. The workshop was organized as part of the BEST Energy CheckUp project. The goal was to create the most effective approach for energy saving and renewable energy production on a collective level. The beautiful mix of backgrounds brought different challenges and solutions to our attention.

CCS Energy Advice kicked off with the introduction of the BEST Energy CheckUp project and an explanation of the objective of the day. Five interesting presentations followed. Christian Lorist represented VNO-NCW and brought an analysis of ‘The Dutch Approach’ from the point of view of entrepreneurs. The Italian project partners provided insight into the arrangements that are being applied in Italy and what works best. John van den Hof, from Saxion University of Applied Sciences, showed how heat networks are used to make renewable heat collectively available. Finally, Ulla-Britt Krämer, on behalf of the province of Overijssel. Finally, Elize Radema, on behalf of the municipality of Enschede, showed how the government approaches energy collectives.

Guus Mulder, of TNO, closed the day with a panel discussion. Together with panel members from RVO, the Hogeschool Arnhem Nijmegen and Italian project partner ENEA. In this, the lessons of the day were summarized and there was room for extra discussion. Conclusion of the day: there is no competition and cooperation is the best solution. We must learn as much as possible from each other to find the best, collective approach.
