Second publication in Energies!

Last October, two of our colleagues published an article about duckweed from a biorefinery system in Energies. We were very proud of that! But the good news does not stop, as a second publication has been added. This second publication focuses on the use of struvite as a phosphate fertilizer.

Our Bio-NP also plays a nice role in this publication. Animal nitrogen is converted by our installation into an ammonium solution. This solution can be used as fertilizer, eliminating the need for farmers to purchase fertilizer! In addition, a manure surplus with the Bio-NP can also easily be converted into struvite, which farmers can also earn from.

Our colleagues, Dr. Ir. René Cornelissen and Dr. Gijs van Pruissen wrote a nice article on evaluating the Struvite recovered from Anaerobic Digestate in a Farm Bio-refinery as a Slow-Release Fertiliser. Struvite appears to be a more effective fertilizer than ammonium phosphate, which is currently widely used. That is of course great news for our Bio-NP!
