Second round EED has started

Last year in July the second round of the EED began. What is that again? The EED stands for Energy Efficiency Directive and is an energy-saving study which, according to the European directive, must be carried out every four years by large companies. It applies to companies with:

  • 250 FTEs, or
  • annual turnover of €50 million including an annual balance sheet total of €43 million.

European legislation is currently an urgent concern for companies. The deadline for the 2nd EED round is the 31st of December 2020. A full report must then be submitted to RVO EED (for Dutch companies, and the Dutch branches of international companies). Time is now pressing because the scope of such a study is very extensive and therefore a longer period is often needed to be able to complete and submit a full report. The 31st of December though semingly still far off, is actually already rather close!

Intervision

CCS attended yesterday’s intervision meeting on the EED of FedEC, the professional association of energy consultants. Among other things, we discussed our experiences with consultants from various consultancies:

  • The scope of an EED study;
  • how RVO evaluates the submitted audits;
  • the link between the EED and the information and energy saving obligation;
  • how to deal with limited information from clients;
  • the format of the report.

Such an exchange of knowledge is very useful at the moment. In this way we can learn two things from each other. Firstly, how we can provide a report so that it meets all the statutory requirements of the RVO. But also how to set up a document in such a way that it is understandable and workable for a company. After all, otherwise a company cannot achieve sustainability.
