Start project Biogas I ‘Manure fermentation and green gas production’

CCS is very pleased to announce that the project ‘Manure fermentation and green gas production’ will start at the dairy farm of Erik Back in Lutten (Netherlands). Thanks to a unique collaboration between CCS and Back, the technology, expertise and operation are optimally combined. The project aims to ferment more than 20,000 tonnes of cattle manure annually (mono-manure fermentation) and thereby inject the green gas produced into the local gas network. The green gas is produced from biogas by an innovative gas scrubber installation: the Bio-UP. This noiseless system requires little energy and is efficiënt (very low methane loss). Due to the low process pressure, wear is negligible and a very high availability is achieved. The realization of our Bio-Up installations is made possible thanks to the collaboration with our partner Greenmac, who takes care of the construction of these installations.

By fermenting this amount of cattle manure, 800 tons of CO2 emissions are avoided. In addition to a major change in sustainability, dairy farming is becoming a net energy supplier. This makes the agricultural sector an important contributor to the energy transition.
